Belgium is very near and Bruges is a popular outing. The Belgian coast is well known for seafood and chocolates, not to be eaten together... Ypres holds a very moving ceremony at 8pm every evening as the last post is sounded under the Menin gate.

Golf is popular in the area too and sand yatching on the wide sandy beaches a sport that is fun to try, and boating in the marshes and waterways near St Omer is great for all the family.
